The planned Romanian curriculum
A transparent CEFR-informed Romanian path from first interactions to advanced professional and cultural participation.
A Romanian curriculum should connect pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, culture and communicative tasks at every level. CEFR labels describe developing ability; they are not earned simply by finishing a fixed number of screens.
Romanian levels at a glance
A1–A2: make daily Romanian usable
Work covers greetings, identity, time, food, transport, housing, family and services. Grammar enters through tasks: gender and number, articles, present tense, frequent pronouns, negation, questions, să-clauses and high-frequency past reference. Pronunciation and diacritics remain active throughout.
B1–B2: become independent
Learners narrate, explain opinions, follow media and communicate about work, education and community life. They consolidate clitic pronouns, case forms, past and future meanings, connectors and register. Listening widens across speakers from Romania and Moldova.
C1–C2: develop precision and range
Advanced work develops professional genres, argument, idiom, humour, literature and sociolinguistic judgement. Assessment should combine reading and listening with sustained speaking, interaction and writing.
Official context and honest claims
The Romanian Language Institute supports Romanian abroad and administers foreign-language proficiency attestation, while Romanian Cultural Institute courses are organised by CEFR level. A future app may align its outcomes to CEFR descriptors, but only an authorised assessment can issue an official certificate.

Is completing an app course the same as achieving a CEFR level?
No. Level claims require demonstrated performance across relevant language activities, not lesson completion alone.
Can Romanian be studied to C2?
Yes. Romanian institutions offer advanced courses and proficiency attestation, but current availability and rules must be checked officially.
Will the course prepare learners for an official exam?
The planned curriculum overlaps with CEFR abilities, but it is not yet an approved exam-preparation product.
